Overcoming
Defeat
Napoleon Hill said, “Before success comes in any man's life
he is sure to meet with much temporary defeat… When defeat
overtakes a man, the easiest and most logical thing to do is to
quit.
That is exactly what the majority of men do.”
Quitting will keep you in the majority and give you a seat
in the crowd called average.
Have you ever thought what makes one man average and another
successful?
What is the one thing that differentiates the two
individuals?
Would you consider Mother Teresa average? Would you consider
Bill Gates average?
Neither one can be considered average due to their
extraordinary impact on the United States and world.
Therefore, the considering factor in if person is successful
or not does not deal with the amount of money that they acquire
over the course of their life but the positive effect that they
have had on their communities, nation and world.
The people who are the most successful are the biggest
failures. Dale Carnegie said, “Develop success from failures.
Discouragement and failure are two of the surest stepping
stones to success.” Their success results from their refusal of
defeat.
As you climb the ladder of success you will encounter more
problems that you will have the responsibility of solving. By
default, the amount of decisions that are going to be up to you
to solve will increase the likelihood of a wrong choice.
However, this is not a negative thing.
When you place yourself in a situation where failure is a
possibility you also place yourself in an atmosphere that will
force you to learn. And the more you learn in your field of
expertise the greater your financial reward will be in that
area. Simply put people get paid in proportion to their
knowledge regarding their job or business. The person who has a
greater knowledge in real estate will earn more than the
novice. Likewise, the employee who has a greater knowledge in
managing people will earn a larger paycheck than the person who
does not possess the same level of knowledge.
George E. Woodberry said, “Defeat is not the worst of
failures. Not to have tried is the true failure.” These are the
people who are defeated in their mind before they ever begin a
project, therefore, they don’t begin.
If you learn nothing else from this article know that when
you fail to take an opportunity because you are fearful of
failure you are giving power to your negative self-image. When
you branch out and try something new even if you do it wrong
and fall flat on your face you cannot completely fail even if
you lost all of your wealth in the process because when you
learn you gain, every time.
Your mind is the key to your next great opportunity. Your
knowledge about investing will bring you one step closer
towards financial freedom. But, if fear has you scared into
procrastination you will take one step further away from that
freedom that you desire.
You will never stay the same. You are either getting better
or worse in your field of expertise. If you stay the same the
drive of your competitor will cause him to grow better than you
in your particular field. However, that competitor could be you
getting closer to the competition if you are doing something
each and everyday to bring you closer to your goals.
H. Stanley Judd said, “Don't be afraid to fail. Don't waste
energy trying to cover up failure. Learn from your failures and
go on to the next challenge. It's OK to fail. If you're not
failing, you're not growing.” And if you are not growing you
are not winning.
The car keys are in your hand. Are you going to put the car
into drive and slam on the gas or are you going to leave your
vehicle in park with the emergency brake pulled? Zoom, zoom
baby. Zoom, zoom.
